About the project

In the name of building a strong collaborative EU community and open minded pupils/ future EU-citizens, this project deals with cultural heritage aiming at developing cultural awareness and appreciation of diverse views. 
As described by UNESCO, cultural heritage encompasses three main categories of heritage: tangible culture, such as monuments, buildings,
archaeological sites, books; intangible culture, such as oral traditions,
customs, folklore, language, lifestyle and values; and natural heritage, such as
natural sites with cultural aspects such as cultural landscapes.
Pupils will explore their own cultural heritage, its significance and values, share and present it to their partner-pupils via video-interviews, get feedback by using Kahoot, create padlet-cultural heritage-stories, teach each other traditional Christmas songs, create MindMaps via bubble.us and finally share their EU/eTwinning project experince via videoconference.

AIMS

1) Help pupils identify, explore, and become aware of their own, partner and European cultural values
2) Raise pupils’ awareness of cultural heritage and its values
3) Assist pupils to identify linguistic diversity and become aware of the importance of learning European languages
4) Develop pupils’ insight into the similarities and differences among nations
5) Learn to accept and embrace diversities and avoid stereotyping
6) Improve ICT skills
7) Develop intercultural dialogue and tolerance

WORK PROCESS

For starters, having conducted analyses of the main topic, pupils will exchange video-interviews with their partner-pupils explaining 'How Christmas is celebrated in their own countries'. They will elaborate topics like food, customs, gifts,events, traditional songs, recipes, values.
After that pupils will create Kahoot-quizes to get feedback.
Pupils will make a video of "Jingle bells" traditional songs in their own language, partner students will learn these and present them via videoconference.
In December pupils will create Christmas cards, share them via eTwinning platform and present them via school web page.
In the next project step pupils will present famous natural sites with cultural aspects, monuments, books via padlet which will be embedded on eTwinning platform. 
Pupils will also create MindMaps on the mentioned topics via bubble.us.
The last step, will be sharing of pupils' eTwinning project experience via videoconference which will be presented on eTwinning platform.

EXPECTED RESULTS

- Improved ICT skills and English proficiency for both pupils and teachers
- Improved social skills and teamwork for all the participants
- Better ability to perceive learning as a complex of activities in various fields, improvement of cross-curricular teaching strategies
- New way to access knowledge through cultural heritage
- Developed perception based on tolerance, diversity and intercultural dialogue
- Expanded cultural horizon of pupils and school teachers
- Developed pupils’ insight into the similarities and differences among nations
